Burnham’s journey from a crew member to the captain of the USS Discovery showcases her growth and resilience. With each season, she has faced new challenges and saved the galaxy multiple times. In this season, Burnham’s personal life becomes intertwined with her professional duties as she navigates her feelings while working with her former partner, Cleveland “Book” Booker.

Adding to the intrigue, Captain Burnham encounters a new frenemy in the form of Captain Rayner, portrayed by Callum Keith Rennie. Their clashing styles and unexpected turn in their relationship highlight Burnham’s growth as a character.

The introduction of two new characters, Moll and L’ak, brings a treasure hunt-style storyline to the forefront. While this has been a weakness of Discovery in the past, the likability of these characters adds intrigue to the plot.
