The Mallard Family’s Journey

The Mallard family, led by father Mack (Kumail Nanjiani) and mother Pam (Elizabeth Banks), resides in a small rural pond. Mack teaches his children, Dax (Caspar Jennings) and Gwen (Tresi Gazal), to fear the dangers of the outside world, while Pam believes in embracing adventure together as a family.

This difference in perspective sets the stage for their migration to Jamaica for the winter. Reluctantly, Mack leads the family, including lazy Uncle Dan (Danny DeVito), towards Jamaica. However, they encounter a miserable rainstorm that dampens their spirits.

Seeking refuge, they accept an offer from a heron (Carol Kane) to spend the night in her home. Little do they know that a fish has also taken refuge in the flooded house, adding to their anxiety.

Unforgettable Encounters and Challenges

As the Mallard family continues their migration, they find themselves in the bustling streets of New York City. Here, they befriend a streetwise pigeon named Chump (Awkwafina) and a captive macaw named Delroy (Keegan-Michael Key).

Chump introduces them to Delroy, who can provide directions to Jamaica. Determined not to leave Delroy behind, the family embarks on a mission to break him out of his cage. However, their decision angers the macaw’s mute owner, a chef specializing in cooking ducks, leading to a series of confrontations and adventures throughout the rest of the movie.

A Family-Friendly Adventure

‘Migration’ may not be the most groundbreaking film, but it offers a pleasant and entertaining way to spend time with loved ones. The animation is cute and harmless, appealing to its target audience of families.

While parents may not enjoy it as much as their kids, it remains a decent option for a family movie night. The film is rated PG for action/peril and mild rude humor, with a running time of 83 minutes.

Additionally, the film includes a pre-feature animated short called ‘Mooned,’ which follows the misadventures of the villain Vector (Jason Segel) after the events of 2010’s ‘Despicable Me.’ This short is a welcome addition for fans of the franchise.

In Conclusion

‘Migration’ is a family-friendly adventure that is definitely worth watching. While it may not be the most imaginative film, it provides a pleasant way to spend quality time with loved ones. So gather the family, grab some popcorn, and embark on this charming animated journey together.
