The original film followed a group of storm chasers, and this new reimagining features Glen Powell from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ as a self-proclaimed daredevil tornado wrangler and Daisy Edgar-Jones from ‘Normal People’ as a scientist.

Joining the leading duo are Anthony Ramos from ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,’ Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, Katy O’Brian, and David Corenswet, who is best known for his role in ‘Superman.’ This star-studded cast brings the all-star disaster flick to life.

Intensified Storms and a Timely Storyline

The trailer provides a glimpse into the plot of the movie, which has been kept under wraps until now. Interestingly, this time the storm chasers encounter not just one, but two tornadoes. The words ‘we’ve got twins’ hint at the twist in this new installment. It appears that the intensity of the storms has escalated due to the effects of climate change, making it a timely and relevant storyline.

A Fresh Take on Storm Chasing

Glen Powell clarified in an interview with Vogue that ‘Twisters’ is not a reboot, but rather a fresh take on the concept. He emphasized that it is a completely original story, unrelated to the characters and events of the first movie. Powell also highlighted the universal theme of humans versus weather, highlighting our vulnerability in the face of cataclysmic forces.

‘Twisters’ is scheduled to hit theaters on July 19, 2024. It’s worth noting that this sequel was not the only exciting trailer released during the Super Bowl. Audiences were also treated to sneak peeks of ‘Wicked,’ ‘Deadpool 3,’ and ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.’
