Recalling the audition process, Walken mentioned that they may have done a screen test together, sitting in front of old videotape cameras. While he couldn’t recall the exact details of the audition scene, he acknowledged that many actors, including himself, auditioned for the role of Han Solo.

Interestingly, Jodie Foster was actually offered the role of Princess Leia by George Lucas. However, due to her prior commitment to another Disney film, she couldn’t accept the part. Walken expressed no hard feelings about not landing the role, jokingly saying, “It’s probably just as well that I didn’t get either one of them.”
