The season begins with Jesus delivering a public message, which triggers pushback from those who oppose his ministry. Despite the mounting opposition, Jesus manages to navigate the fine line between fulfilling the Old Law and introducing the New Covenant. However, the Apostles struggle to fully comprehend his message, clinging to their own human perspectives instead of embracing the divine.

Amidst their fame and power, the Apostles vie for importance, with John and James even requesting to sit at Jesus’ left and right sides in his Kingdom. Judas becomes blinded by the potential wealth that could come from donations, while Thomas grapples with grief and doubt over the death of his wife. Mary also voices her concerns about her sister Martha’s lack of assistance in serving Jesus.

Jesus becomes increasingly frustrated as he struggles to convey the impending sacrifice he must make. The Jewish leaders, driven by their own political gain and threatened by Jesus’ presence, plot against him. Fueling the tension is Ramah’s father, seeking revenge for his daughter’s death. Zebedee receives a warning about the Jewish leaders’ plans to arrest and potentially kill Jesus, but Jesus remains resolute in his decision to travel to Jerusalem.

On their journey, the group encounters Roman soldiers who force them to carry their heavy equipment. Jesus, however, demonstrates his teachings by going beyond what is required, offering to go an extra mile with the soldiers. This act of kindness touches the soldiers, leading to unexpected camaraderie and relationships.

Finally, in Jerusalem, Jesus delivers a powerful message about the Good Shepherd who comes to save, drawing anger from the Scribes and Pharisees. Their anger escalates into an attempted stoning of Jesus and his Apostles.

The Chosen: Season 4 Episodes 4-6 is a masterfully crafted series. The acting is exceptional, bringing the characters to life with authenticity. The set designs are visually stunning, paying meticulous attention to historic detail. The script remains faithful to the biblical text, adding dramatic elements that enhance the overall storytelling. It is evident that the Holy Spirit’s anointing is present in the dialogue given to Jesus.

While this season does contain some violence, including the Apostles carrying Thomas’ deceased wife and a stoning that results in injury, caution is advised for younger viewers.
