Romero stated, “We would love to find a way to put Danny DeVito in One Piece somehow,” while Godoy added, “If you’re looking at this, Danny, please come to the show. We can do anything, man, you can be anyone you want. Just come here, man! I really want to do anything with Danny DeVito.”

The internet has also chimed in on who they believe DeVito would be perfect for in the series, with many suggesting the role of Wapol. Twitter user That Sergal and others shared their belief that DeVito would be an ideal fit for the character.

The Role of Wapol

For those unfamiliar, Wapol is the former king of the Drum Kingdom and the main antagonist of the Drum Island Arc and the ninth One Piece movie, “Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura.”

While it remains to be seen if DeVito will hear this plea and consider joining the cast, there is some exciting news regarding another potential addition. Jamie Lee Curtis is reportedly closer to joining the series, with Netflix co-showrunner Matt Owens revealing that they are writing Season 2 with her in mind for the role of Doctor Kureha.

Netflix’s live-action One Piece series has received mixed reviews, with critics noting its entertaining adaptation but also highlighting its tendency to recreate every major event from the source material. Nonetheless, fans of the original manga and anime continue to show their support and anticipation for the upcoming season.

As we await news of DeVito’s potential involvement, it is evident that his unique charisma and acting prowess could bring a captivating portrayal to the character of Wapol. Whether or not this dream casting comes to fruition, the excitement surrounding the show’s second season continues to build.
